Research Methodology
Our systematic approach to gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing medical and ingredient data.
1. Literature Review & Evidence Gathering
Before a single word is written, our Research Team scours reputable medical databases. The cornerstone of our methodology is the hierarchy of evidence. We prioritize systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) over observational studies or expert opinions.
Our primary data sources include:
- PubMed/MEDLINE: The premier database for biomedical literature.
- Cochrane Library: A collection of databases that contain high-quality, independent evidence.
- Google Scholar: For broad academic literature searches.
- ClinicalTrials.gov: For updates on ongoing or recently completed clinical studies.
2. Ingredient & Formulation Analysis
When analyzing skincare ingredients or pharmacological compounds, we don't just look at the active ingredient in isolation. Our analysis involves:
- Mechanism of Action: How the compound interacts with human physiology (e.g., inhibiting tyrosinase, binding to histamine receptors).
- Efficacy Concentrations: The percentage or dosage at which the ingredient actually demonstrates clinical benefits.
- Formulation Stability: Factors affecting the ingredient's shelf-life and potency (e.g., pH dependency, light sensitivity).
- Toxicity & Safety Profiles: Reviewing structural alerts for potential irritation, allergenicity, or long-term safety concerns.
3. Critical Appraisal
Not all studies are created equal. We critically evaluate the methodology, sample size, control groups, and statistical significance of the research we cite. We actively look for:
- Conflicts of interest (e.g., studies funded entirely by a brand selling the ingredient).
- Publication bias.
- Whether findings from in vitro (petri dish) or animal models can reasonably be extrapolated to human subjects.
4. Internal Review & Synthesis
The gathered data is translated into comprehensive articles or structured product specifications. Finally, the synthesized content is subjected to an internal review process where our Medical Reviewer verifies the clinical accuracy and safety parameters before publication.
By adhering strictly to this methodology, we ensure our content remains a reliable, science-backed resource for consumers and professionals alike.
